Overview

Reflecting upon my time spent in the Straits of Mackinac in the Summer since my adolescence, this series is an amalgamation of four specific places in that area that hold great importance to me. The connection that the mind has to place is an overarching idea significant to this work and serves as the foundation for my artistic process.

With this work I encourage my audience to recall and appreciate their own memories they may have attached to various places personal to them

The Brief

Vintage travel posters from the 1930's act as a source of inspiration for this series, due to how the artists of said posters would carefully select the layout of a composition based upon the importance of the environment and subject matter.

My art reflects this by having the illustration anchored within a circular form, allowing for certain visual aspects of the environment and structures to break the encompassed area and bring an essence of reality to the image.
